While you can take an assignment for a weekend or a few days, you still need to be completely free to meet the needs of the assignment. This means allowing time for travel to and from your destination, no family commitments and a clear calendar for the duration. Therefore, retirees and students who may be able to study remotely or have a gap year are ideal candidates for house-sitting. If you are a ‘digital nomad’ this may also be a great opportunity to travel, but you must ensure your house-sitting assignment duties are fulfilled as well as your work related commitments.
