Marcel and Aleta looked after our property and dogs for several months in the summer of 2019. How lucky were we! They were perfect house sitters, positive and happy people, totally honest, 100% reliable, who did the job brilliantly.

Our main concern was the two dogs – one a large Labrador mix, the other a smaller Labrador. They bonded with them instantly, took them for daily walks, and generally looked after them when we were not around.

Marcel and Aleta arrived in the early summer, just as the grass took off on its annual growth spurt. They did a sterling job keeping everything under control, cheerfully leaping onto the ride on mowers on an almost daily basis, doing a pas de deux over the lawns. Marcel’s talents are many. Internet or computer problems resolved in a couple of clicks. Small little jobs around the house were executed without being asked. But the very best thing of all was their cooking skills which we were able to enjoy with gusto. What a team!

When this highly efficient couple left, the cottage was in a gleaming state of cleanliness, the garden looking better than ever. Delightful people who have become good friends, whom we can thoroughly recommend as efficient, reliable, honest and cheerful. We and the dogs were very sad to see them go at the end of their stay. If you manage to snap them up to house and dog sit for you, you will certainly not be disappointed.

Aleta and Marcel were fantastic house/pet sitters. Both of our animals have medical and behavioral issues and they cared for them like they were their own, they even helped to improve our dogs eating habits and confidence issues. They kept us up to date on how the animals were doing during our trip, although I never worried about them as I knew they were in good hands. When we returned home the house was immaculate, all of the bedding and towels freshly washed and a few things that needed fixing were fixed! we couldn't be happier with the care and attention both our pets and home received from Aleta and Marcel. I hope they will come back in the future.

We have used Trusted Housesitters for the last 4 years and we have had many excellent housesitters, Marcel and Aleta however were absolutely first class. They gave confidence to our rescue dog Jilly who became happier and fitter as they took her long walks. Our horses and pony are the best winter shape I have seen and were well looked after and our little dog and cat were looked after with care and consideration. If you want exceptional sitters who will care for your pets, as you would do, this couple are trustworthy and conscientious and I highly recommend them both. In addition they kept our property clean and tidy and even did a few repairs. A big thank you to you both.

I don't even know where to begin to describe just how amazing Marcel and his wife Aleta are as people and as home and animal caretakers. From the start, they were very responsive to messages and very organized. After our FaceTime introduction, I knew they would be a great fit, but had no idea just how much gold I struck landing them.

With respect to my pets, Marcel and Aleta not only took care of all of the basic responsibilities; they exceeded them. My dog Wallace got many walks, including a "special trip" hike, and they went above and beyond to bathe him, which they did not need to do. My senior kitty with kidney disease was very well cared for, as well, including all of his nutritional supplements.

With respect to the house, it was immaculate! Cleaner than I had even left it. They laundered the sheets and towels, remade the bed, emptied all the trash cans, and emptied the dishwasher -- all of which were totally unnecessary, but made our return from our holiday travels so much easier. I didn't have to do a thing. They even added little tissue boxes and rolled the washcloths for a hotel-worthy presentation, which I now will continue doing.

The most amazing surprise of all was returning home on New Year's Eve to an incredible, homemade lasagna AND a homemade merengue dessert that would put some chefs to shame! The table was set up for a New Year's Eve dinner date, including wine glasses. Incredible! It was a true shock and the best welcome home possible. To say they went above and beyond is a major understatement.

The only downside to confirming Marcel and Aleta for your housesit is that after you have them housesit for you, all other sitters will be downhill from there. They are wonderful human beings. I would be honored to have them housesit for me again in the future, or even just to stay as my houseguests.

Amazing House Sitters, Caretakers and House Management Couple

From the moment of meeting Aleta and Marcel, I knew they would be perfect for our assignment. Unfortunately the pandemic meant that we had to postpone their trip to us for two years, but they kindly kept themselves available for when life went back to normal. They have a cheery disposition and we very much enjoyed our short time with them before departing on our holiday. Since we live partly off grid, our home is complex, yet they took it all in their stride and didn't seem at all phased with the caretaking and house duties/responsibilities and pet care. We couldn't have been happier with the way they looked after everything for us. We were away for 2 months and Italy was struggling with a severe heat wave and a drought during the time we were away. They handled everything perfectly and understood the glitches that arose and dealt with them pragmatically. We were able to relax whilst we were away, knowing that they had everything under control. We returned home to happy hens; a tidy garden and a spotless house and could not have been happier. They are welcome back anytime and we highly recommend them as your sitters/caretakers/house management. A wonderful couple whom we are delighted to now call our friends. Thank you Aleta and Marcel for everything you did. We really appreciated it.
